Moon missions of other countries were carried out in 3-4 days. Then why ISRO mission Chandrayan-2 is taking more time to reach moon?
Actually other countries mission were carried out to moon using straight trajectory but Chandrayaan-2 will reach moon with help of orbits of earth and moon. This is done to save fuel which ultimately saves money. It's allocate cost is ₹978 crore which includes ₹603 crore for space segment and ₹375 crore as launch costs.
Below picture shows how Chandrayan-2 will reach moon:
How this mission saves fuel?
Satellite is hold in orbit due to centripetal force which requires no fuel. But when it slightly changes it direction it is again back to its path with the help of boosters. One more thing when it has to change orbit then again boosters are used. So less fuel is used.
